This is the time of year when the White Sox' strategy of confining all their minor-league teams in one region of the country pays off. With the string of promotions leaving Charlotte's cupboard dry, you'll see some strange names filling in the roster gaps as the teams play out the string.
- Norfolk 4, Charlotte 1 (13 innings)
- Carlos Torres pitched well: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
- Dayan Viciedo went 1-for-5.
- Garrett Johnson took the loss. You know it's silly season in Triple-A when they're trying to get three innings out of a guy like him.
- Birmingham 8, Carolina 0
- Josh Phegley hit his first Double-A homer, and also drew two walks in four trips to the plate.
- Eduardo Escobar homered, singled, walked and struck out twice.
- Christian Marrero went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a strikeout.
- Kyle Bellamy threw a scoreless inning despite allowing a hit and walking two.
- Winston-Salem 11, Lynchburg 0
- Nick Ciolli keeps up the hot hitting: 3-for-5, two doubles, two RBI.
- Jose Martinez went 2-for-5 with a homer and a strikeut.
- Jon Gilmore was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.
- Joe Serafin pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out one. His ERA is 5.94.
- Kannapolis 8, Delmarva 5
- Another great start for Andre Rienzo: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K.
- Matthew Heidenreich allowed two runs on three hits in his first inning above rookie ball.
- Tyler Saladino went 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.
- Trayce Thompson was 1-for-5 with a K.
- Great Falls 2, Helena 1
- Steven Upchurch struck out six over six innings, allowing just a run on five hits. No walks.
