*The White Sox finally won their 10th game of the season, and in the process delayed the Cubs' clinch of the Crosstown Cup.
*The Sox had to overcome yet another first-inning deficit, as severe wildness from Lucas Giolito put his team in a 2-0 hole. He put runners on the corners over the course of three batters with a walk, two wild pitches and another walk. Two batters later, he fell behind Javier Baez 3-0, and Baez pounced on a low fastball for a two-run single.
*Giolito issued three walks and soaked up two mound visits during the first inning alone.
*Somehow, he only ended up allowing one more run over the remainder of the afternoon, which somehow lasted 5 2/3 innings despite four more walks, a hit batter and two more wild pitches.
*The Cubs took a 3-2 lead in the fourth after Giolito started the inning with two walks and an RBI double by Ian Happ. He escaped the inning with no further damage thanks to a pair of grounders. The Sox cut down Addison Russell at the plate (the Sox' second such play of the game), then turned a 4-6-3 double play.
*Giolito's final line: 5.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP. He also picked up his second win of the season thanks to a persistent effort by the White Sox offense.
*Matt Davidson put the Sox on the board with a solo shot in the second inning to start the comeback.
*Yolmer Sanchez tied it up in the third, looping a two-out single to center to score Adam Engel, who went from first to third when Willson Contreras airmailed a pickoff throw.
*Nicky Delmonico then tied it up again in the sixth by driving a triple to the base of the wall in right center, and Davidson cashed him in with a sac fly (which also almost his second homer) to finally give the Sox the lead.
*Tim Anderson's 12th walk of the season turned into an insurance run when he moved to second on Omar Narvaez's bunt and scored on Leury Garcia's pinch-hit single.
*The White Sox bullpen made it hold up, as Jace Fry (1 1/3 innings), Nate Jones and Bruce Rondon limited the Cubs to just a single over the rest of the game.
*The Sox made the most of a flawed effort by making plays on defense and going 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position, snapping a seven-game skid.
