The White Sox' home finale, which doubled as Fan Appreciation Night, was uninspiring from the beginning. Here's a similarly flat bullet-point recap:
*Jace Fry gave up a homer to Francisco Lindor on the third pitch of the game.
*That's how the bullpen game started, and that's how it went. The Indians scored against the first four relievers they faced -- Fry, Aaron Bummer, Ryan Burr, Jeanmar Gomez -- before calling off the dogs later on.
*The Indians were smart to, because they already had one guy end up in the trainer's room, as Erik Gonzalez got beaned by Rob Scahill. He lay motionless in the batter's box for nearly a minute before slowly rising to his feet and getting escorted off the field.
*The White Sox didn't score until the ninth. Ryan Cordell got hit by an Oliver Perez pitch, followed by Jose Rondon singling. Two batters later, Kevan Smith shot a single through the middle for the first run. After Tim Anderson's 30th walk loaded the bases and Yoan Moncada struck out, Adam Engel foiled a baseball-hating pitching change by Terry Francona with a single through the left side for the second and final run.
*The Sox were outhit 16-6, and out-baserunner'd 25-10.
*The Sox did strike out more than Cleveland, 13-9. Six of those K's were backwards.
*Tim Anderson couldn't handle a grounder up the middle on a ranging play of some difficulty, but one he's made before. His 20th error was his first round number of the night.
*Sanchez and Welington Castillo prevented a run from scoring with an excellent 5-2-5 putout on a contact play. Also, Moncada maxed out his vertical with a leaping catch of a line drive.
*The Sox finished with a home record of 30-51.
