White Sox Minor Keys: April 13, 2019

The Chicago contingent didn’t see scintillating defense. (billyok)

Most of the White Sox beat writers are in Indianapolis because the Charlotte Knights offer more bang for the buck than the big-league team in New York, especially since Dylan Cease starts the finale on Sunday.

For the time being, they got to see Zack Collins leave the deepest part of Victory Field:

Collins is trying to rewrite the narrative offensively this season. In Scot Gregor's article for the Daily Herald, he said that he's trying to be more aggressive and let his hit tool do more talking, which is working for both him and Yoan Moncada right now. James Fegan also relayed that Collins feels more dangerous against left-handed pitching.

Collins is hitting .240/.300/.920 so far, with all six of his hits going for extra bases (five homers, one triple). That's a fine way to start, not just because of the four-digit OPS, but because his eye alone wasn't going to keep him afloat at the highest levels. He's going to have to pound the ball before pitchers start nibbling, and this should help keep them honest.
