Luis Robert is doing a lot of important things this season, but perhaps what he's doing more than anything is proving that Birmingham doesn't have a force field against Barons hitters.
Robert went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles in Birmingham's 5-4 comeback against Montgomery. The second of those doubles was a shot past third base with the bases loaded. All three runners came home for the three runs Birmingham needed to win, and Curt Bloom nailed the call:
Robert is now hitting .303/.357/.528 through 98 plate appearances with Birmingham. His slugging percentage is higher than Blake Rutherford's OPS.
Speaking of which, Rutherford was off on Tuesday after leaving Sunday's game early with an injury, and the Barons might have a bigger health concern with Bernardo Flores as you'll see below.
Charlotte 9, Indianapolis 4

Birmingham 5, Montgomery 4

- Laz Rivera was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
- Bernardo Flores: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K.
More:
*Flores' injury wasn't identified, but it looked like he was favoring his oblique or hip as he threw three straight pitches out of the zone to the second batter of the third inning. He threw a practice toss after the trainer came out, so it wouldn't seem to be arm-related.
Kannapolis 7, Lakewood 1
- Lenyn Sosa went 2-for-4 with his second homer and a sac fly.
- Romy Gonzalez was 1-for-5 with two strikeouts.
- Corey Zangari notched his first hit since his injury, going 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
- Luis Curbelo went 0-for-4 with a sac fly and two strikeouts.
- Jhoandro Alfaro hit his first A-ball homer, going 1-for-4 with a walk.
- Kade McClure: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
