I don't think that Luis Gonzalez took offense to Blake Rutherford passing him in OPS earlier last week, but the way the box scores have played out since resembles a competition of sorts. Rutherford and Gonzalez once again reached base multiple times on Saturday as the Barons won their fourth straight game, and they're both giving their season lines a cosmetic upgrade.

Rutherford:

    • Last nine games: 17-for-39, with just three extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts to just one walk.
    • Line after June 20: .227/.272/.322
    • Line after June 29: .260/.299/.364

Gonzalez:

    • Last nine games: 12-for-32, with four extra-base hits and four walks to six strikeouts.
    • Line after June 20: .229/.287/.325
    • Line after June 29: .244/.304/.350

Both could stand to show more power, especially since Rutherford's battling a big jump in strikeouts. Still, it's been a tough season for both of them so it's hard to take any successful stretch for granted.
