Followed-from-work bullet-point recap:
*Dylan Cease finally encountered an endless form of early trouble. Instead of absorbing an early crooked number en route to five or more serviceable innings, the Twins never stopped beating him up.
Cease gave up five straight singles of varying quality to start the game, falling behind 2-0. When he made an incredible between-the-legs pick to start a 1-2-3 double play that gave him a way out of the inning, C.J. Cron shot another single through the middle for two more runs and a 4-0 lead before the close of the first.
*It didn't get any easier. In the second, Cease couldn't glove Nelson Cruz's chopper, instead redirecting it to a vacancy in the infield for two more runs. He also threw a pair of very wild fastballs that caused concern.
*Cease then gave up back-to-back homers to start the third, and that was that. His final line: 2 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR.
*Jose Abreu went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles.
*The final score was closer than it appeared because Jorge Polanco made two errors to start the ninth, leading to two unearned runs on Randy Dobnak's line. He still earned a three-inning save.
