It's been 40 months since the White Sox' 2017 1st round draft pick tore his Achilles in a Spring Training game --not to mention a variety of setbacks in between-- but Jake Burger will be called up to make his MLB debut, according to James Fegan of The Athletic.
Down in Charlotte, Burger was batting .322/.368/.596, with an even more astounding line of .471/.518/.843 in his past 12 games. It's a terrific storyline for the third base prospect, and perhaps one that even a movie producer wouldn't take on.
Burger doesn't figure to be around too long --assuming Moncada recovers fairly quickly from his hand injury-- but it gives both the White Sox and potential trade partners around the league a look at what they have in the 25-year-old right-hander out of Missouri State.
Additionally, Zack Burdi and Yermin Mercedes were optioned to Charlotte, and Adam Eaton was reinstated from the 10-day IL.
