White Sox Minor Keys: July 16, 2021

Yolbert Sanchez (Sox Machine photo)

Besides sending Reynaldo López to Chicago and gaining Matt Foster and Jace Fry in the trade, the Charlotte Knights shuffled their roster in a couple other ways before Friday's game.

From above, Jake Lamb started his rehab stint. From below, the Sox promoted Laz Rivera from Birmingham to take the place of Tim Beckham, who had been out of action for nearly two weeks.

Rivera's been sneakily productive at Charlotte, hitting .259/.322/.411 after a miserable .248/.287/.318 performance with the Barons two years earlier. But I'm more wondering whether that promotion opens a middle infield spot for Yolbert Sanchez to make the jump from Winston-Salem. Sanchez is now hitting .286/.342/.390 with just 33 strikeouts over 59 games, so there's not a whole lot left for him to prove at High-A at age 24.
