Two days after floating his retirement, Yermín Mercedes was back in the Charlotte lineup on Friday, serving as the DH and batting cleanup.

Had he not created a social media furor for 24 hours, you wouldn't know anything had happened. Mercedes went 2-for-4 with a no-doubt homer, helping the Knights snap an 11-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory at Durham.

• Jake Lamb went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.
• Eloy Jiménez ended an eight-game strikeout streak while going 1-for-3 with a sac fly.
• Yermín Mercedes was 2-for-4 with a homer.
• Ti'Quan Forbes went 1-for-4 with a triple and a strikeout
• Lane Ramsey made his Triple-A debut: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

Birmingham 7, Chattanooga 6

• Romy Gonzalez went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts.
• Carlos Pérez also cooled off with an 0-for-5 night, striking out once.
• Yolbert Sanchez played short and went 1-for-3 with a double, walk and strikeout.

Jersey Shore 9, Winston-Salem 5

• Yoelqui Céspedes went 2-for-5 with a strikeout, and was caught stealing.
• Lenyn Sosa and Luis Curbelo were both 1-for-4 with a K.
• Isaiah Carranza: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR
• Luis Robert did not play. We'll see if that means anything or whether it was a programmed day off.

• José Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts.
• Bryan Ramos wore the collar and silver sombrero.
• Luis Mieses went 0-for-4 with a K.
• Harvin Mendoza had the only other hit, the lone walk, and a strikeout.
• Caberea Weaver was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
• James Beard struck out all three times at bat.

• Randel Mondesi singled twice and struck out twice.
• Carlos Jimenez went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts and a stolen base.
