Colson Montgomery and Wes Kath, the White Sox's top two picks from the 2021 draft, have made it into the box scores. Both made their debuts in Arizona on Friday, and both reached base once, with Kath's in the form of his first professional it.
In order to make room on the left side of the infield, the White Sox promoted Wilber Sanchez to Kannapolis. The 19-year-old Venezuelan was off to a decent start to his stateside debut, hitting .269/.313/.385 over 83 plate appearances, including homers in consecutive games to close out July. He struck out 23 times, so he has some holes to close in his swing, but he also committed just two errors over 16 games at shortstop, which is respectable for an Arizona rookie league. He's the kind of player who might give us a good indication of the difficulty of going from the ACL to Low-A without the typical short-season stop in between.
Sanchez started at shortstop with Jose Rodriguez DHing on Friday, so perhaps this is the kind of move that results in Rodriguez getting promoted to Winston-Salem in the nearish future.
