Good morning!
As the White Sox did during the regular season, and as the Offseason Plan Project has shown us in, well, the offseason, who patrols right field continues to be an issue that stymies the front office. You need only look at the 2021 roster and note that eleven different players appeared in right field over the course of the season. Even for a team that currently prides itself in developing positional flexibility in its players, that seems a bit stretched.
Eleven. That almost is enough names for its own Sporcle. Could you name all eleven guys? Prior to looking at the appearances, I came up with nine so I wouldn't have aced my own quiz. Doh! However, today's Sporcle will not be stopping at those eleven guys: no, you are tasked with naming every player to appear in at least one game in right field dating back to 1990. That's 177 names: how many can you get? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I've allotted the full 20 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I've provided the year, and the number of games each player appeared in right field.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- The White Sox were truly blessed with stability in right field from 1997-2009: two players (I bet you can name them!) accounted for 79% of all RF appearances in that span.
- Those same two players accounted for 54.8% of all home runs from Sox right fielders (417/760).
- The average triple-slash of the players on this list: .255/.310/.412
