Oscar Colás departed Friday's game against the Tennessee Smokies after two plate appearances, and he probably shouldn't have stayed in the game past the first.
The first pitch that Colás saw from lefty D.J. Herz drilled him in the back of the helmet, near the base of the skull. The beaning first stunned him, and then he eventually sank to the ground behind the batter's box.
He lobbied successfully to stay in the game, taking first base while rubbing his neck, but after he struck out looking in the top of the third inning, that's when Justin Jirschele decided to call it a night for him.
