White Sox Minor Keys: Aug. 13, 2022

If you take Baseball America's word for it, the White Sox have two top 100 prospects, and not just Colson Montgomery.

BA re-racked its list after the draft, and while Montgomery is holding steady at No. 38, he's joined by Oscar Colás at No. 99.

It's still hard for me to think that Colás has the trade value of a typical rising top-100 prospect, because we just saw how he was valued on an open-ish market, and the White Sox signed him for $2.7 million. That's probably more money than it sounds like considering most teams have such signings lined up years in advance, whereas the Sox only had to wait one signing period to line up the money.

That said, if Colás' left-handed bat can translate to the majors sooner rather than later while playing quality defense in a corner, then trading him is the last thing they're going to want to do. Just don't hold Saturday's performance against him.

Lehigh Valley 9, Charlotte 7

• Yolbert Sánchez and Carlos Pérez both were 0-for-5.
• Jake Burger, 2-for-4 with a walk.
• Adam Haseley went 1-for-5 with a strikeout.

*The Knights scored four of their seven runs off Jace Fry, in case you wondered where he was.

Pensacola 10, Birmingham 2

• José Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with his seventh homer. Five of them have come in August, and this one was on the first pitch of the game.
• Oscar Colás wore the collar and silver sombrero.
• Rough Double-A encore for Luke Shilling: 0.1 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 12 of 25 pitches for strikes.

Winston-Salem 3, Bowling Green 2

• Colson Montgomery went 3-for-4 with a homer.
• Bryan Ramos was 1-for-3 with a sac fly.
• Luis Mieses, 0-for-4.
• Adam Hackenberg, 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout.

Highlights:

*Montgomery's homer was against a lefty; 91 mph if I'm reading the scoreboard correctly.

Salem 7, Kannapolis 0

• Jordan Sprinkle went 0-for-3 with an HBP.
• Wes Kath was 0-for-2 with two walks.
• Wilfed Veras went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
• DJ Gladney had the other hit, going 1-for-4 with one strikeout.
• Jacob Burke was 0-for-3.

ACL Dodgers 9, ACL White Sox 7

• Luis Pineda went 1-for-3.
• Tyler Elko had his first big pro game, going 2-for-4 with two homers and two strikeouts
• Dario Borrero went 1-for-5 with a strikeout.
• Victor Quezada sported a golden sombrero.
• Cam Butler went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
