While the White Sox couldn't place any prospects on Baseball America's Best Tools in Triple-A or Double-A, three different Winston-Salem Dash -- OK, two of them are in Birmingham now -- accounted for four honors in the High-A survey of league managers:
- Duke Ellis: Best baserunner, fastest baserunnner
- Harvin Mendoza: Best defensive first baseman
- Bryan Ramos: Best infield arm
Ellis is up to 56 stolen bases in 65 attempts between the Dash and Barons, while Ramos' nod confirms that his shoulder is sound enough to play the left side of the infield (it limited him to second base at times in 2021).
Mendoza's accolade would mean a lot more if he were hitting better than .185/.276/.309 as a first-base-only fielder.
Charlotte 7, Durham 2
- Lenyn Sosa went 1-for-4 with a K.
- Carlos Pérez's return to Triple-A was a triumph: 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk.
Birmingham 7, Montgomery 5 (11 innings)
- Duke Ellis offered action: 2-for-4 with a walk, an HBP, a strikeout, and 2-for-3 in stolen basese.
- Bryan Ramos also reached base four times, goign 2-for-4 with a double, two walks and a strikeout.
- Oscar Colás, not so much: 0-for-6, three strikeouts.
- Luis Mieses was 1-for-5 with a walk and a K.
- Yoelqui Céspedes, 2-for-5 with a walk, two strikeouts and two stolen bases.
- Colson Montgomery struck out thrice during a 2-for-6 night.
- Wes Kath was 0-for-3 with two walks and two strikeouts.
- Wilfred Veras avoided striking out while going 3-for-5 with two doubles.
- Drew Dalquist: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Winston-Salem 8, Greensboro 0
- Colbey Smelley went 2-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.
- James Beard was 1-for-5 with three strikeouts.
Lynchburg 5, Kannapolis 2
- Jordan Sprinkle went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. He was also caught stealing.
- Brooks Baldwin was 1-for-4 with a double.
- Jacob Burke, 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.
- Manuel Veloz: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
