With Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert ailing, the White Sox have called up two left-handed outfielders from their farm system, and neither are Oscar Colás. Instead, the Sox went with Adam Haseley as an initial September call-up, then went for Mark Payton after Robert went on paternity leave.
As it so happens, Colás has opened September in his worst slump of the season to date. He's 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts during the Barons' first three games of the series against Montgomery.
It's most likely a random blip, but it led me to look up Colás history, and sure enough, he's already surpassed his career high of games played in a season with 97. He'd previously topped out at 87 between Japan and Serie Nacional back in 2019-20, followed by zero games in the next two seasons. If Colás doesn't finish the season in a thunderous fashion, that's one potential reason to keep in mind.
