Good morning!
Look: I didn't figure the second Sporcle of the regular season would feature such depressing content. Unfortunately the White Sox have forced my hand by deploying a position player to pitch twice in a three-game span. So, while I would rather be quizzing you on White Sox players to hit five dingers in a game (that would be an easy Sporcle!), or starters who've pitched a 17-inning perfect game (also very easy!), instead I'm asking you to remember position players of yore who have pitched in a game.
There have been 28 instances where this particular "feat" has occurred, because I will not be subjecting you to the likes of Zaza Harvey or Jimmy Callahan --players who were pitchers earlier in their career, at the very least-- nor Don Hanski. How many can you get? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I've allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
- For hints, I've provided the date of the game, the opponent, and the final score.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- You'll be shocked to learn the White Sox have never won a game when a position player has pitched.
- All told, the White Sox have been outscored 308-82 in these games.
- While there have been a fair number of position players pitching for the Sox in recent years, there was a 17-year gap before 2012, and a 34-year gap before 1979.
