Garrett Crochet pitched in his first-ever minor league game Sunday.
Crochet, who went from the draft to the majors with only some work at the alternate training site in between during the pandemic-altered 2020 season, made his Birmingham debut with his first rehab outing as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery nearly 13 months ago.
Crochet worked his way up to 96-97 over the course of his 13 pitches, throwing 10 of them for strikes. He started his inning with a bouncer to third, followed by a swinging strikeout and a lineout to right.

Notes:
*Burke bounced back from his second inning meltdown in his 2023 debut, showing improving command over the course of his start according to Jeff Cohen, who added that Burke worked 90-93 with his fastball.
*Davis Martin went on IL, and Justin Jirschele tried to downplay it, but the lack of specifics makes one wonder.
