With Davis Martin on the shelf for the rest of the season and into 2024 after Tommy John surgery, the White Sox's search for internal pitching depth with upside turns to Sean Burke, who can at least say he's pitching after a shoulder issue delayed the start to his season.
He's far from thriving. He's yet to complete four innings, walks have been a problem (14 over 12 innings), and he took a brief detour to the developmental list.
Jeff Cohen asked Burke about his first month-plus, and while Burke didn't shy away from his start -- "really bad" were his words -- he attributed most of the issues to rust.
