Sean Burke finally threw a start that represented progress.
He held the Nashville Sounds to one run over five innings while striking out eight in Charlotte's 4-2 victory on Tuesday night. Control remained a problem on the surface with four walks, but he only had one real lapse with three straight walks to open the fourth inning. Outside of that patch where he missed with 12 of 18, he threw 49 of 72 pitches for strikes. He generated 15 whiffs, but the contact quality stands out, as the only two hits he allowed were of the infield variety.
Jeff Cohen talked to him after the game.
