Sporcle Saturday: 2-dinger games

Good morning!

Jake Burger had himself a game the other day, hitting two home runs in the White Sox' 8-4 victory over the Dodgers. It was actually the third time this season a White Sox batter has gone deep twice in a game this season, but the first time I've had the opportunity to write up a Sporcle about it.

And looking back at previous Sporcle Saturdays, it would appear that I've never actually published a quiz which features White Sox players to have hit two or more home runs in a single game! Consider that oversight rectified today, as I'm asking you to remember any White Sox batter to hit at least two home runs in a game dating back to 1980. In all, there are 395 instances: how many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • Given the sheer volume of answers in today's quiz, I've allotted the full 25 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I've provided the date of the game, as well as the position of the player in question (at the time in which he started that game).

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • The first White Sox batter to record a multi-dinger game was Jack Fournier, who hit two in a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Washington Senators on August 31, 1914.
  • In all, there have been 585 instances of a White Sox batter recording two home runs or more in the same game.
  • The White Sox are 449-135-1 in such games.
  • The lone tie was in the second game of a doubleheader against the Tigers, 7-7, on April 30, 1950; Hank Majeski was the batter.
