White Sox prospect Terrell Tatum

Terrell Tatum (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

In my review of my top White Sox prospects list at the halfway point of the 2023 season, I mentioned that Terrell Tatum and Jacob Burke played their way into top-10 consideration with the steady nature of their production to date, but it'd help to see them one level higher due to age-for-level concerns.

The White Sox opened the second half by granting that request. Tatum will make his Birmingham debut when the Barons resume play tonight, while Burke opened his Winston-Salem Dash career by reaching base in his 36th consecutive game, made all the more impressive by the fact that he's only played in 36 games this season.

Colson Montgomery made it to 51 straight games after his midseason promotion to the Dash last year, so Burke still has his work cut out for him.

  • Loidel Chapelli was 0-for-4 with a K.
  • DJ Gladney, 1-for-4 with a triple and a strikeout.
  • Wilfred Veras wore the collar and silver sombrero, but he did gun down two runners -- or the same runner twice.
  • Tyler Elko also received the bump to Winston-Salem, walking, hitting a sac fly and striking out twice.
  • Wes Kath went 2-for-4 with a homer and a strikeout.
  • Jonathan Cannon: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 3 K

DSL Braves 17, DSL White Sox 5

  • Abraham Nunez went 1-for-4 with a double.
