Northwestern University campus in Evanston

Northwestern University campus in Evanston (Josh Sukoff)

While Northwestern made national headlines for firing Pat Fitzgerald due to toxic culture issues in the football program, Northwestern's baseball program is in the midst of turmoil-fueled turnover, firing coach Jim Foster after one year due to abusive behavior.

I mention this here for two reasons:

No. 1: The interim head coach is Brian Anderson. Yes, that Brian Anderson.

No. 2: Jon Morosi says Northwestern is interested in candidates with MLB ties, including Chris Getz.

Normally when an NCAA program poaches a well-regarded coach from the professional ranks, that team feels the absence. I'm not certain that would be the case here.
