With more than a score of new draft picks and signings entering the White Sox farm system, some spots need to be opened up.

Per the MiLB-Transactions Twitter account, the White Sox released RHP Luke Shilling, RHP Brian Carrion, RHP Eric Hildebrand, LHP Jose Jimenez, LHP Ben Holmes, C Anthony Espinoza, C Evan Skoug, and INF Kean Wong.

Minor league box scores will look a little different without Skoug, who played 334 games across six seasons for all four full-season affiliates as an organizational catcher. Shilling briefly established a minor-league trajectory after recovering from the Jake Peavy injury that teamed up with the pandemic to delay his organizational debut until three years after he was drafted, but then he had Tommy John surgery, and he came back walking more batters than he struck out.
