Sporcle Saturday: Happy 60th, Ozzie

Good morning!

Yes, as the title denotes, today marks former White Sox shortstop and manager Ozzie Guillen's 60th birthday. Born on this day in 1964 in Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela, Guillen would go on to log the second-most games at shortstop of any White Sox player in franchise history.

So to honor what is a milestone birthday for Ozzie, I thought it'd be a challenge to try and name other shortstops to play for the White Sox throughout their history. To make the cut, a player needed to have:

  1. Played at least 50 games for the team, and;
  2. 80% of their appearances came at shortstop.

To give you an example: the third guy on this list had 1,506 games at short with the Sox, but 1,511 games in total. In all there are 29 names: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I've provided the tenure of the player, and the number of games overall.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • Just two players on this list had an OPS+ better than league average: the top guy (113) and the sixth guy (109).
  • The most home runs of any player on this list hit 109.
  • The most stolen bases? 318, by the third guy on this list.
