While the White Sox are enjoying the fruit of the Tommy Pham effect, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are benefiting from the Ryan Burrowes bump. The Ballers improved to 2-0 with another victory against Fayetteville on Wednesday, and how.
All the Ballers did was set a Kannapolis record for runs in a 22-1 stomping of the Woodpeckers. They scored those 22 runs on 15 hits because they drew a whopping 17 walks. Every starter reached base multiple times, and so did Matt Hogan, who drew two walks after coming off the bench. The lone exception was Javier Mora, who only contributed a walk and sac fly after replacing Rikuu Nishida after Kannapolis expanded its lead to 13-0 after five.
Burrowes was in the middle of it, leading the lineup by reaching base six times -- three singles, and three walks. He's now 13-for-27 with six walks over his first seven games, with five coming in the ACL before his promotion this week.
