White Sox Prospects

White Sox Minor Keys: May 17, 2024

Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis

One White Sox prospect and one former White Sox prospect made noteworthy debuts on Friday:

* Grant Taylor made his first start for Kannapolis, and while it was his second start with the White Sox organization, it was the first that was viewable on MiLB.tv. He came out of the gate with a 1-2-3 inning and two strikeouts on 11 total pitches, then gave up a solo homer and a couple BABIP singles for a pair of runs in the second as a little bit of a correction.

But three of the four innings innings were overpowering, as he sat in the high-90s and threw nearly three-quarters of his 60 pitches for strikes. It's easy to see why the White Sox made him a second-round pick last year despite the Tommy John surgery.

* In less exciting news, Norge Vera official began his rehab stint. He turns 24 in a couple of weeks and his inning on Friday was just his 70th of his professional career, which is why he's plummeted out of top-30 consideration. It's pretty much now or never.
