A couple updates on White Sox farm system topics that I ran the risk of jinxing by pointing them out:

I might've jinxed Grant Taylor after opening the last Farm Fortnight by remarking on how stable the White Sox affiliate rotations had been. James reported yesterday that Taylor was placed on the injured list with a right lat strain:

A day later, Marquee player development analyst Lance Brozdowski noted that the White Sox have seen the biggest jump in four-seam fastball velocity from last year to this one ...

... and we'll see if Taylor's absence hurts this in any way, because he was certainly not a pitcher who was around last year.

I did not jinx Mason Adams, who continued his streak of five-inning starts by handling the first 5⅔ innings in the Barons' 6-3 win over Pensacola. He opened with five shutout innings before the hits started falling, so even though it fell one out short of a quality start,. it's within the scope of "business as usual."   • Duke Ellis went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Colson Montgomery wore the collar and silver sombrero.
  • Adam Hackenberg singled twice and struck out once.
  • Nick Nastrini: 4 IP 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 7 K, 1 HR, 56 of 89 pitches for strikes.

Birmingham 6, Pensacola 3

  • Terrell Tatum went 1-for-5 with a double and a strikeout.
  • Jacob Gonzalez was 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Brooks Baldwin, 0-for-4 with a walk.
  • Edgar Quero was 2-for-4 with his 11th homer and a strikeout.
  • Wilfred Veras, 1-for-4 with two strikeouts and a stolen base.
  • Tim Elko doubled twice, singled and struck out.
  • Jacob Burke was 2-for-4 with a strikeout.
  • Mason Adams: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 64 of 92 pitches for strikes.

Greensboro 14, Winston-Salem 5

  • Samuel Zavala went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • DJ Gladney returned to the lineup, going 1-for-5 with a double and a strikeout.
  • Calvin Harris doubled, struck out twice and hit a sac fly.
  • Ryan Galanie was 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout
  • Wes Kath went 1-for-4 with a K.
  • Loidel Chapelli was 3-for-4 with a stolen base.
  • Peyton Pallette: 0.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 0 K, 18 of 37 pitches for strikes.

Kannapolis 3, Delmarva 1

  • Rikuu Nishida went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

ACL Rangers 3, ACL White Sox 2 (7 innings)

  • Javier Mogollon struck out all four times up.
  • Adrian Gil doubled, singled and struck out twice.
  • Erick Hernandez was 1-for-2.
  • Davis Martin's first rehab outing since Tommy John surgery: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

DSL Giants Black 10, DSL White Sox 4

  • Jurdrick Profar went 1-for-3 with a walk, HBP and a strikeout.
  • Christian Gonzalez was 1-for-5 with a K.
  • Eduardo Herrera went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
  • Jehancarlos Mendez, 0-for-3 with a walk.
  • Jeziel Boekhoudt: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
