A second White Sox affiliate has thrown a no-hitter this month, and this one required fewer than half as many pitchers.
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers strung together nine hitless, scoreless innings from three arms in their 6-0 victory over the Columbia Fireflies. It follows the Charlotte Knights' lead from nearly two weeks ago, when they stitched together seven pitchers for a no-hit bullpen game against Durham.
Seth Keener led the way with six innings, over which he threw just 62 pitches despite striking out seven. A two-out walk in the first inning was his only blemish, and he finished his night retiring the last 16 batters he faced.
Luke Bell then took the game through the eighth, allowing the only other Columbia baserunner on a one-out walk in the eighth. Nick Altermatt then closed it out with a groundout and two flyouts.
Prior to the feat in Kannapolis, the Arizona Complex League White Sox faced the minimum in a seven-inning one-hitter against the ACL Reds. Ricardo Brizuela allowed a single and plunked a batter, but the former was erased with a pickoff, and the latter was caught stealing.
