White Sox Prospects

White Sox Minor Keys: June 5, 2024

White Sox prospect Noah Schultz

Noah Schultz (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

Noah Schultz is the new top White Sox prospect, at least if you buy into what Baseball America and Keith Law are selling.

Baseball America ranked Schultz No. 9, and the third-highest pitcher behind Paul Skenes (No. 1) and Jackson Jobe (No. 6). Law is slightly less enthusiastic by putting Schultz at No. 23, but when you consider that Law's preseason rankings slotted Schultz at José Abreu's number, the mood swing is more dramatic, as Schultz was 40th in BA's initial list.

In both cases, the only skepticism surrounds Schultz's repressed workload, as the White Sox are limiting him to four innings an outing no matter the efficiency involved.

Colson Montgomery is right behind Schultz in both cases -- No. 12 on BA, No. 34 for Law -- while Drew Thorpe (No. 41) and Edgar Quero (No. 90) filled out the rest of BA's top 100. Law stopped at 50.
