White Sox Prospects

White Sox Minor Keys: July 10, 2024

Brooks Baldwin (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

Baseball America updated its top 30 White Sox prospects list before the draft, and it's yet another list that has moved Colson Montgomery behind Noah Schultz at the top spot.

The midseason lists don't involve the same scrutiny, though, as the intent is mainly to issue large corrections to the preseason list before the trade deadline starts. Small shifts in rankings are still boil down to individual preferences, but the sizable jumps and falls account for the out-of-nowhere good and bad news.

Brooks Baldwin and Mason Adams both made huge jumps from off the board, which is even more significant considering that the preseason list predated the Dylan Cease trade. Drew Thorpe, Jairo Iriarte and Samuel Zavala all would've rated ahead of them, meaning that they weren't in Baseball America's top 33. Now Baldwin is 13th, right behind Jacob Gonzalez, while Adams is 15th.

Among the biggest fallers, Peyton Pallette has plummeted from 10th to 26th, which makes sense based on both performance, and the fact that the White Sox have shifted him to Winston-Salem's bullpen for the time being.
