The White Sox farm system's stretch run got off to a soggy start, as Charlotte and Birmingham were greeted with rainouts to open their first games after the All-Star break.

On the bright side, the Barons were able to watch their former teammate, Brooks Baldwin, collect his first MLB hit.

The Winston-Salem Dash were also wet, because they dressed as the Winston-Salem Italian Beef on Friday night for a one-off promotion. It's only a shame that Mario Camilletti was promoted to Birmingham, because he seemed to relish the assignment of modeling the jersey.

  • DJ Gladney's homer provided the game's only run. He also singled and struck out twice.
