White Sox Minor Keys: July 2, 2024

White Sox prospect Noah Schultz

Noah Schultz (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

James spoiled it at the very end of Monday's podcast, but Noah Schultz and Colson Montgomery will be representing the White Sox in the Futures Game, which will be held Saturday, July 13, at Globe Life Field. The game will be only seven innings for some reason.

Schultz will likely be the headliner for the national prospect coverage contingent, as his stock seemingly rises with every drama-free four-inning Saturday start with Birmingham. MLB Pipeline just updated its top 100 prospect list, and Schultz now sits at No. 18, up from No. 50 preseason. Jackson Jobe (11) and Cade Horton (17) are the only other pitchers ahead of him.

Despite hitting just .188 since the start of June, Montgomery still holds his top prospect status for the White Sox (No. 16 overall), so his name brand hasn't yet been diminished by the quiet half-season, at least in the eyes of the league.
