After the 10th pick, players can sign for up to $150,000 before the overages start counting against the pool space, so it's always worth noting which players generated sufficient interest to exceed that amount. George makes sense, given that he's an Alabama reliever who hits triple digits. Paddack's profile and track record with Gonzaga don't seem to warrant the same amount of leverage, but he is a lefty who can spin the ball from a three-quarters slot.
That leaves the top four picks -- Hagen Smith, Caleb Bonemer, Blake Larson and Nick McLain -- and 20th-round pick Myles Bailey as the last to sign, and the White Sox have roughly $13 million to work with. It only needs to be divided four ways, because Bailey would only receive terms worth considering if something goes wrong with the players at the top of the draft.
