Almost as though it were an epilogue to Tuesday's Farm Fortnight, the White Sox made a number of roster moves throughout the minor league system. Some were promotions that were waiting to happen or rehab assignments that had been in the works, but others involve players who become considerably more interesting if they can hang at the higher level.
Charlotte: Activated Corey Knebel from the injured list after completing a ramp-up period. He effectively replaces Matt Foster on the periphery of the bullpen conversation, whose diminished velocity in his last two outings signified a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Problem is, Knebel only threw two fastballs on Tuesday, and both were around 91 mph as well. Shoulder surgery for a capsule tear will do that.
Birmingham: Received Shawn Goosenberg and Mario Camilletti from Winston-Salem. Goosenberg has played 227 minor league games in his career since the White Sox drafted him out of Northwestern in the 19th round of the 2021 draft, and 86 percent of those games have been with the Dash. He's been decent this year (.272/.348/.460), although he's tied his strikeout total from last year (91) in 116 fewer plate appearances. Camilletti is generously listed at 5'9", and has a career .413 OBP in the minors, including a .260/.362/.390 line over 51 games with Winston-Salem this year. Both rotate between the infield and outfield.
Winston-Salem: Received Caden Connor and Lucas Gordon from Kannapolis. Connor, last year's 19th round pick out of Cal State Fullerton, had been biding his time in Low-A while hitting a consistent .307/.390/.440. He turns 24 next month, so this is the time to ratchet up the difficulty level. Gordon, a pitchability lefty the White Sox drafted in the sixth round of the University of Texas, has a 1.89 ERA over 71⅓ innings with Kannapolis. He'll take the rotation spot of Juan Carela, who was moved to the development list.
Kannapolis: Placed Ryan Burrowes on the 7-day injured list, replacing him with Mason Dinesen. Burrowes was hitting .199/.292/.226 over his first 40 games with Kannapolis.
ACL White Sox: Added Yoán Moncada as he starts his rehab stint for his left adductor strain.
