MLB Pipeline is the latest outlet to re-rank its top prospects list, as it released refreshed lists for both the top 100 and White Sox top 30 on Tuesday.

Noah Schultz nudged past Colson Montgomery to the top of the Sox's chart, but the top five wouldn't shock somebody who hadn't paid attention to the farm system since February.

  1. Noah Schultz
  2. Colson Montgomery
  3. Hagen Smith
  4. Edgar Quero
  5. Jairo Iriarte

(You'd just have to tell them that Smith was the White Sox's first-round pick, in the event that they missed the draft as well.)

The most noteworthy movements lie outside the top five. Grant Taylor -- who received rave reviews from Paul Janish recently -- is at No. 6 despite the lat strain that limited him to 19⅓ innings. He opened the season at No. 13, and he's followed by George Wolkow (preseason No. 14), Brooks Baldwin (27), Mason Adams (22) and Ky Bush (20), none of whom were in that range to start the season.

That's positive news in one sense, in that all of those players have shown what the White Sox had hoped to see this season, but you'd prefer to see graduations being the reason that so many new players could be accommodated in the top 10. Instead, disappointments elsewhere have created the space, as half the players who made the preseason top 10 dropped out of it:

  • Bryan Ramos (No. 4 → No. 13)
  • Samuel Zavala (No. 6 → No. 17)
  • Jacob Gonzalez (No. 7 → No. 12)
  • Nick Nastrini (No. 8 → No. 18)
  • Jake Eder (No. 10 → No. 23)

  • Edgar Quero, 0-for-4.
  • Tim Elko went 2-for-4 with a strikeout and a stolen base.
  • Bryan Ramos was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Zach DeLoach and Oscar Colás both were 1-for-3 with a K, with Colás doubling.
  • Nick Nastrini: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HR

Notes:

*In terms of traffic, that's Nastrini's best work yet. He's also taking mechanical advice from FutureSox contributors on Twitter.
