ESPN joined FanGraphs in re-ranking the farm systems after the draft and trade deadline, and while both have the White Sox in the top 10, both highlight the fine line the organization is walking.
FanGraphs has the White Sox third thahnks to seven prospects with a Future Value ranking of 50 or higher, but they also have the fewest ranked prospects in the top 12. Kiley McDaniel placed the White Sox eighth, noting that the name-brand talent is strong, but Jonathan Cannon is the only one of the MLB-tested prospects with signs of sticky success, and Noah Schultz is the only one dominating the minors.
The depth is better than it has been, but only so because the White Sox traded their top MLB talent over the last two acquisition periods and degraded the roster into one that's challenging for the worst record in modern baseball history. The question of where hitters are going to come from remains an open one.
