White Sox prospect Colson Montgomery

Colson Montgomery (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

Later today, James will have a post covering his conversation with White Sox farm director Paul Janish. Until then, a few notes to throw your way:

No. 1: Baseball America joined ESPN and FanGraphs in updating its organization rankings, and it sides with Kiley McDaniel in ranking the White Sox eighth overall.

No. 2: BA also covered 10 significant prospects who have either climbed or fallen down the top 100 list to significant degrees. Colson Montgomery qualifies as one of the latter, and Matt Eddy joins Keith Law in hearing about lingering issues from the oblique and back injuries from early 2023.

The trouble for Montgomery is that his production at the upper levels has underwhelmed, while some scouts have expressed lingering concerns about his mobility based on the back injury that cut his 2023 season in half.

No. 3: The first draft picks have surfaced on Kannapolis' roster, but they're from Day 3: 12th-round Bowling Green outfielder Nathan Archer, and 17th-rounder Lyle Miller-Green, who is still listed as a two-way player. They're listed in the Keys while we figure out what they're all about.
