White Sox prospect Oscar Colás

(Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights)

Oscar Colás was lifted from Charlotte's game against Lousville in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Rafael Ortega running out to right field after Jake Eder had completed his warm-ups.

The curious in-game timing, along with the firing of Pedro Grifol earlier in the day, made it natural to connect those dots and wonder if Colás was getting promoted to Chicago. Grifol wasn't a fan of Colás throughout his tenure with the team, and maybe Grady Sizemore could be directed to try a fresh start.

Nope. He just didn't hustle on a grounder to first, resulting in an easier 3-1 putout than the "3" or "1" anticipated.

So now you're free to wonder if new Charlotte manager Pat Listach had been irked by Colás' effort while coaching under Justin Jirschele, and now this was his chance to do something about it. Although maybe Colás had a reason to be taking it easy.
