Good morning!
It was on this day in 2015 the White Sox last had one of their starting pitchers throw a Maddux. I suppose that isn't so surprising seeing as where starting pitching has been heading the last several years, but what is surprising is that the 2024 White Sox haven't had an opponent pitch a Maddux against them. In fact, the last time a starting pitcher threw a Maddux against the Sox was in 2016! Looking back at the pitching logs, Gavin Stone has come closest in 2024, coming within four pitches on June 26. (I'm writing this up on Friday afternoon, so hopefully I'm not jinxing anything heading into tonight's game against the Padres.)
Today's Sporcle, of course, is about all of these Madduxes/i. In the pitch-counting era, eighteen pitchers have thrown one either for OR against the White Sox. How many can you name? Good luck!
