White Sox reliever Jordan Leasure rehabs with Charlotte

(Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights)

Jordan Leasure's rookie season in the White Sox bullpen hit a pothole shortly after the calendar turned to June, as his ERA ballooned from 2.62 to 6.32 over the course of his last seven MLB appearances. He gave up 15 runs over 6⅓ innings, which was interrupted by a get-right demotion to Charlotte, and then cut short around the All-Star break due to a right shoulder impingement.

He returned to the mound for the first time in nearly two months for Charlotte against Norfolk on Friday night to begin his rehab stint, and he made pretty simple work of it. He threw a 1-2-3 inning on 10 pitches, and Statcast shows his fastball sitting 95-96. Statcast also says that his fastball averaged just 94.6 mph, but that's because it registered one 89.1 mph pitch in the dirt as a four-seamer, and it probably wasn't that.
