Sporcle Saturday: What a game

Good morning!

It was on this day in 2005, that this memorable play occurred:

Pierzynski reaching only increased the White Sox' win probability 3%, but it allowed, of course, this:

Joe Crede --who I'm pretty sure at one point during that season Hawk mentioned as "having ice water in his veins"-- had two doubles in that game to give him four total bases. By Baseball Reference's Championship Win Probability Added, Crede added 5.98% which is good for the 11th-most pivotal play in baseball that year.

At any rate, four total bases in a playoff game is pretty good (by White Sox franchise standards, at least). Today’s Sporcle will ask you to name the White Sox players throughout history who have logged 4 total bases or more in a single postseason game. That’s 63 entries: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the number of total bases, the date of the game, and the position that the player played during that game.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • The most total bases in a single game for the White Sox is 10, logged just a few games earlier during the 14-2 rout of the Red Sox.
  • Albert Pujols (2011 World Series, Cardinals) and Bob Robertson (1971 NLCS, Pirates) share the record for most TBs in a single game, with 14.
  • The player who sits with third-most TBs from this list (8), did so by cracking 4 doubles in a game in 1906.
