The White Sox aren't good. They might not be meaningfully better than last season, and how much can the people heading up the two worst seasons in team history merit any trust?
They do talk like they're headed somewhere, at least.
"No one's happy with the win-loss record and that's what's most important here," said bench coach Walker McKinven. "But underneath the hood we're working really hard to reorder some things, build things up and like where everything's headed here. The thing that I leave the park here happy about every single day is we've got this really, really great group of people, players, coaches, support staff. Everyone's like really, really great. We are all on the same page. We are all working really, really hard and trying to get this thing right."

In case they haven't made it known, the White Sox are in the middle of a stretch of 26 games in 27 days.
Chase Meidroth isn't too far removed from an IL stint for right thumb inflammation, missed a game earlier this week so that he could undergo an MRI on his sore right shoulder, and was ambling around pregame with his sore left ankle taped before testing it out with the training staff.
And he's playing on Sunday.
Miguel Vargas and Luis Robert Jr. are both missing their second-straight games. Robert has a sore right knee, and Miguel Vargas is dealing with discomfort in his right calf.
"They're both available, just dealing with some minor things and we have the off day tomorrow," McKinven said. "Just figured it was a good opportunity to get them off their feet for a couple days. But again, they are available, we're just being cautious."

Recently claimed Yoendrys Gómez is out of options, so it was inevitable that the White Sox were going to activate him if they bothered to acquire him at all. Caleb Freeman was optioned to make room after making the first four big league appearances of his life.
Gómez is running a 6.28 ERA in 14 1/3 relief innings across stints with both the Yankees and the Dodgers, both of which ended in a DFA. He is just looking for some stability, and what better place to find it than the 2025 White Sox?
"It hasn’t been easy because you want consistency, right?" Gómez said via interepter. "Moving around hasn’t been easy. But you also understand that this is a business and you have to be grateful for every opportunity that each team is giving you. That’s why I said before that I’m very grateful for this opportunity."

Former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara is running an 8.42 ERA in the early going, with his upper-90s fastball getting tattooed for some reason. Surely the White Sox offense won't break that trend.
