Retherford returns [to Birmingham] after struggling in Triple-A Charlotte and having a dustup with Knights manager Chris Chambliss.
"It was just a little run-in with the manager. I think we've solved that," Retherford said. "He put down a sign, it caught me off guard, and I was frustrated and reached a boiling point. It was very unlike me."

- Terry Doyle struck out seven over seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk.

- Andre Rienzo was solid in defeat: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K.

- Ryan Buch allowed just a hit and a walk over six innings while striking out seven.
