Sneak peek: The Sox Machine coffee mug

In 2012, the White Sox called up Dan Johnson for what still ranks as their most recent postseason push. The White Sox are never short on first base/DH types, but they thought Johnson's left-handed bat could be useful on the bench.

And it was. Over 14 games and 31 plate appearances, Johnson hit .364/.548/.818 with nine walks to just three strikeouts. He also belted three homers, all of which came in the White Sox's final game of the season, a 9-0 win over Cleveland.

That furious finale gave Johnson a 1.367 OPS for the season, which is the highest for any White Sox hitter with at least 30 plate appearances to his name. And while the late Ed Farmer said Johnson earned a spot on the team for his record-tying performance, the White Sox declined to offer him a contract after the season.

His entire White Sox career boils down to a memorable cup of coffee.

And now, you can have that memorable cup of coffee, too.

The newest Sox Machine offering for Patreon subscribers pays tribute to Dan Johnson's 14 games in the form of a 15 oz. coffee mug.

Now, how can you get the "YOU CAN CALL ME 2012 DAN JOHNSON BECAUSE I'M HAVING A GREAT CUP OF COFFEE" coffee mug? The first way is to support the Sox Machine Patreon at the $10 level, and you'll receive it after being charged for the second month, no shipping costs required.

(Example: If you signed up today, you'd be billed on Aug. 1, and then on Sept. 1, and it'd be headed your way afterward.)

If you're already a Patreon supporter at that level -- thank you, by the way -- I'll be posting it on the Sox Machine storefront once I get an idea of how many to set aside for supporters, and I'll distribute coupon codes based on the support tier.
