The White Sox's ... unconventional ... strategy with regards to international signings has left them with more than $1 million in their bonus pool, which is why they're signing guys like 25-year-old Cuban reliever Yosimar Cousín for six figures in May.

Nevertheless, Ben Badler reviewed the White Sox's international class for Baseball America, and while the names are familiar to those who read James Fox's post covering the 187 announced signings back in January, Badler adds a little more color to the players who signed for five figures.

Regardin Javier Mogollon, a 17-year-old Venezuelan shortstop who signed for $75,000:

His righthanded swing is short, quick, clean and balanced, allowing him to barrel balls at a high clip against live pitching. Despite his stature, Mogollon isn’t a slap hitter either, with the ability to generate startling power for his size, even clearing the batter’s eye at the White Sox academy in the Dominican Republic.

He also mentions Fabian Ysalla, a $50,000 signing out of Venezuelan who recently converted to pitching, and Eyke Ugueto, who provides "a good mix of bat control and some extra-base damage for his age with an aggressive, hard-nosed style of play."
