My apologies to Jayson Stark...but I thought I'd pull a few more stats out of the OPP 2024 predictions.  Every year this fun exercise turns into frustration, as the White Sox never come close to anything submitted by their most loyal fans.  I hope at least, the brass looks at these suggestions.

    1. The 67 submitted OPP'ers named FIVE of the NINE opening day starting line-up correctly (Vaughn. Moncada, Benintendi, Robert and Eloy)
    2. Nickey Lopez was listed once in the OPP.  He was designated for the bench, not a starter.
    3. Paul DeJong received FIVE votes to be a White Sox.  FOUR as a starter.
    4. Martin Maldonaldo accumulated TWO predictions to be a White Sox.
    5. ONE submitter actually recommended to sign Tommy Pham as a free agent.
    6. ZERO of the Top 5 vote receivers for starters made the starting rotation when compared to the 5 who actually started.
    7. Four participants listed Garret Crochet to be a starter.
    8. One OPP'er listed Erick Fedde to be in the starting rotation.  One also listed Fedde as a reliever.
    9. Ten recommended Nick Nastrini to be a starter from the get go.
    10. Jonathan Cannon was never mentioned in this year's OPP.
    11. Although 16 submitters identified Kopech for the bullpen, only TWO named him specifically as the closer.
    12. Jordan Leasure was named twenty-two times to be a member of the bullpen.
    13. Deivi Garcia was listed EIGHT times for the bullpen.
    14. Mike Brebbia was listed twice to be a member of the White Sox pitching staff.
    15. Korey Lee was listed 32 times for the bench, NINE times as a starter.
    16. Gavin Sheets was listed 23 times for the bench.  TWICE to start at DH and ONCE each to start in rightfield and firstbase.
    17. Lenyn Sosa was listed 14 times for the bench.  SIX times as a starter.
    18. The following players were never listed in the 2024 OPP;Robbie Grossman, Chris Flexen, Tim Hill, Mike Soroka, Dominic Fletcher, Kevin Pillar, Dominic Leon, Steve Wilson, Braden Shewmake

The Sox were shut out SEVEN times in 2023 (Seattle led with 18 in 2023).   We were at SIX after only 16 games.  NINE homeruns in 18 games gets us near 80 for a season.  That still seems high to me.

Lastly, I'm not feeling the warmth for John Schriffen yet.  I realize the team is terrible and he hasn't found his signature call yet, but please don't sound overly excited for every deep fly ball hit to the warning track.  Not every play, pitch, catch or at bat needs a superlative.   Less is more!
