Good morning!
Last Thursday, the White Sox avoided the sweep in Seattle behind a very strong start from Garrett Crochet. Allowing just two hits and one run over seven innings against thirteen strikeouts, Crochet logged a first for the White Sox this season: a game score of 80.
It's not really a knock on White Sox pitching, either, that we're nearly to July before a starter logged an 80 game score: entering Friday night's action, seven teams have yet to have one of their own accomplish the feat and there have been just 49 games across MLB this season with an 80 or higher. (For those wondering, there have been a five pitchers who have two: Ronel Blanco, Jack Flaherty, Max Fried, Logan Gilbert, and Ranger Suárez.)
By now, you know where this is going: which other Sox pitchers have logged a game score of 80 or better? That’s what today’s Sporcle is all about: since 1990, there have been 179 pitching performances that have met that 80 game score threshold. Some of the names are pretty obvious, while others are a bit more obscure. How many can you get? Good luck!
