1. DFA Sheets (DH on depth chart), DFA Lopez (SS on depth chart), DFA Julks (OF), DFA DeLosSantis (RP), DFA Toussaint (RP), DFA Brebbia(RP)
Reason: Brebbia's option is mutual. Maybe Sheets, Lopez, and Brebbia can hook on with contenders as 26th men. All are gone after the year. Get a look at other players.
2. Call up 3B Ramos, OF Colas, RP Johan Dominguez, RP Matt Foster, RP Sammy Peralta
Reason: 3B Ramos - SS Baldwin - 2B Sosa - 1B Vaughn; DH Vargas; C Lee; Colas / Fletcher / Robert / DeLoach should be the OF rotation. You can't have so many 4th OFs so prioritize DeLoach over Julks. Bad contract Benitendi should get looks around 1B and DH to hopefully add a little versatility to his hapless defensive profile in hopes of a future salary dump where the Sox only need to eat 60-70% of his remaining contract.
In the pen, Dominguez has a shot as a RP but probably not as a starter. See if he has anything. Foster is better than most of the pitchers in Chicago and makes no sense being in Charlotte. Peralta has good numbers in AAA. See if he has anything.
Later on, I expect Eder (40-man) and Iriarte (40-man) to get bullpen looks. Also possibly Sean Burke and Mason Adams get looks. Maybe Nastrini (40 man) gets a look but he hasn't earned it. No reason not to keep the starters pitching length and stretching them out for next year. The Sox should also add Juan Carela this year as they need to add him to the 40 after the year. If they lose him with such a weak roster it will probably be yet another strike against Getz. But keep him starting until the minors as long as possible.
When it's time to add other arms, more pitchers may be DFA'd. Let Anderson, Kuhl, Dominguez, Foster compete for 2 spots. Let Shuster, Ellard, Peralta compete for 2 spots. DFA from this group to add Carela, Adams, Burke, etc. when necessary.
