The arrival of another wave of White Sox draft picks in Kannapolis caused another chain of promotions, this one giving relievers some upward mobility.
Charlotte: Received Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa from Birmingham. The Hawaiian righty posted a 2.17 ERA with 39 strikeouts against 39 baserunners over 37⅓ innings between Double-A Frisco and Double-A Birmingham after coming over in the Robbie Grossman trade.
Birmingham: Received Peyton Pallette and Zach Franklin from Winston-Salem. Pallette has been a different pitcher since shifting to the bullpen (23.2 IP, 11 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 35 K) at the start of July, while Franklin's fastball was overwhelming to High-A hitters. M-I-Z.
Winston-Salem: Received Carson Jacobs, Tyler Davis and Luke Bell from Kannapolis, along with Hagen Smith, who will make his debut on Saturday with the plan of throwing three innings each of the next three weeks. Among the relievers, Jacobs stands out for standing 6'9" and striking out 19 batters over 10⅓ innings.
Kannapolis: Received Aaron Combs, Pierce George, Justin Sinibaldi and Clete Hartzog, who are listed in order of their draft round (Hartzog was undrafted).
